Remember Adam Sandler's Valentine's Day hit "50 First Dates," in which the comedian plays a man whose love interest has a condition in which her short-term memory is erased every time she goes to sleep? Turns out, it's based on an actual condition.
Known as a very rare form of anterograde amnesia, the disorder is real and one of the people impacted is Michelle Philpots, who after two bad accidents involving motor vehicles needs a deck of Post-It notes to go about her daily life.
Philpots though is married and her (very patient) husband reminds her of their life together every morning by showing her photos from their wedding. Luckily, the two were together prior to the accident, so Philpots does have long-term memories of them, just nothing passed 1994.
