Career soldier Lieutenant Denis Daly, then 23, died when a bomb packed with wire nails and hidden in a parked car was detonated in London on July 20 1982. Responsibility for the deadly blast was later claimed by the Provisional IRA. But with the collapse at the Old Bailey of the case brought against 62-year-old John Downey, previously convicted of membership of the Irish republican terrorist group, over his alleged role in the plot, Mr Daly's younger brother has spoken angrily about being "let down" by the authorities.
