Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has recently visited tens of injured Syrian militants, fighting against the Syrian government, hospitalized for medical treatment.
Israel Channel 2 News recently aired footage of a secret Israeli field hospital in the occupied Golan Heights. The hospital, in which the meeting was held, has treated over 700 Syrians including militants over the past months.
Following the visit, a Syrian opposition leader praised Netanyahu for expressing support for militants wounded during the conflict in Syria. Muhammad Badie has reportedly said Netanyahu’s public presence near the wounded militants sent an "important message" especially following the failure of talks between the Syrian government and the opposition in Geneva, Switzerland.
The Syrian government has repeatedly said, the militants are enjoying the support of not only the US and its allies, but also staunch backing of Israel, both financially and militarily. The fact that many of the weapons confiscated from the militants fighting the Syrian army, are Israeli-made, is a telltale sign.
In this edition of The Debate we discuss Israel’s involvement in Syria and try to figure out if Israel and Saudis are hand in hand in the Syrian conflict.
