EU weighs sanctions against Russia's will

As protesters drag the dead and wounded from the front lines in Kiev, pressure is mounting for authorities to do anything to stop the violence.

In Belgium, delegates and foreign ministers arrive at the European Union Council where they are debating sanctions against Ukrainian officials responsible for recent bloodshed.

(SOUNDBITE) (English) DANISH FOREIGN MINISTER MARTIN LIDEGAARD SAYING:

"My recommendations to the foreign ministers meeting today will be that we go for targeted measures, that we try to identify individuals who've got responsibility for what has happened over the last days, that we refuse access to the European Union, and also we go for economic sanctions for these individuals."

In Ukraine, demonstrators are rebuilding barricades and reinforcing their lines after several days of violence left at least 50 people dead.
