Getting rid of waste can be hassle. But despite the inconvenience, disposing unwanted items improperly can lead to trouble for everyone around you.

The firm, Scottish Water recently announced some of the bizarre things found in the country’s sewers last year. In 2013, over 40,000 blockages in the drains and sewer network were discovered and attended to.

One of the most noteworthy and ironically named items found was a Winnie the Pooh Bear. A few others included a rusted bicycle, a boat’s outboard motor, a hand truck, a deck chair, an outdated fax machine and a snake.

Those goods had been tossed down manholes. The company also released some belongings that were flushed down toilets and later caused blockages.

Jeans, false teeth, toy figurines and mobile phones were sent down the potty without a second thought by locals. Following the troubling findings, Scottish Water launched a campaign to alert residents of the problems caused by unnecessary blockages.

The efforts to correct obstructions reportedly costs over $11.5 million each year. The awareness campaign will involve TV and radio ads urgings residents to dispose all waste responsibly.
