Camel goes on rampage in California, bites man's head near Palmdale

A camel escaped from its enclosure and started attacking people around 8:30 a.m. on February 14 near Palmdale in southern California. The camel chased cars and bit a man in the head. The humped beast's rampage lasted for half an hour before it was captured.
The attacked man, Steve Brefka, 72, told ABC7 that the camel "was stomping me and biting me, and getting on his knees on top of my chest." Brefka was sent to a hospital and treated for a camel bite.
Neighbors tried but were unable to corral the camel, which ran a quarter mile from its enclosure as officials used police cars and fire engines to block its path before the owner of a nearby property was able to calm it and lead it into a horse corral.
The camel was returned to its pen. Hours later, it was taken into custody by the deputy directors of animal control, because they found the camel's owner didn't have a permit for the animal.
