Shocking footage: Chinese man shoves girlfriend down manhole caught on CCTV

Shocking CCTV footage of an attempted murder in southern China shows a man brutally stuffing his girlfriend down a manhole in a twisted attempt to escape a gambling debt, according to an AP report.
The footage taken in the city of Haikou in Hainan Province shows the unidentified man removing a manhole cover and replacing it with a piece of cardboard.
He's next shown running through the rain with his girlfriend toward the trap he had laid for her and aggressively stuffing her into the hole before replacing the cover and leaving her to die.
The woman, identified by her surname Guo, however, proved incredibly resilient and fought like hell to live, surviving a grueling 60 hours inside the three-meter deep manhole before finally being saved.
"I did not sleep at all the first night I fell in the manhole. I could see the darkness around me. I thought that I would not be choked to death if I looked up," said Guo, according to the report.
The man, who claims he was attempting to escape paying his girlfriend the nearly $16,500 he owed her, has been charged with attempted murder for the December 12 attack.
