General Motors Announces Recall For 780,000 Compact Cars Over Ignition Switch

General Motors announced a recall on Thursday for nearly 780,000 compact cars over an ignition switch issue that could fail and cause the engine to turn off or airbags to fail to activate in a crash. The affected cars come from model years 2005 through 2007 and include the Chevrolet Cobalt and the Pontiac G5.
