Nick Cave opens up his life story in new documentary

"20,000 Days on Earth" is fast becoming one of the break-out movies of the year, after screening and receiving glowing reviews at both the Sundance and Berlin film festivals. It's a biographical documentary about Australian rocker Nick Cave but with a difference - the life story of the musician and writer is touched upon in various ways during Cave's 20,000th day on planet earth.

Shot during the writing of his 2013 album "Push the Sky Away", the film shows the creative process of a rock musician - something the artist believes is lost nowadays.

"I think that the function of a rock star was at least, perhaps not so these days, was to be both monstrous and to be god-like at the same time. That notion has largely flatlined these days. You have the internet, you have everybody making music, everybody making art. And I am not sure that's such a good thing."
