An exhibition on Turkish cinema. Istanbul's TÜRVAK Cinema-Theatre Museum is showcasing over fifty movie posters that were made in the past ninety years. The exhibition, dubbed Foreign Films About Turkey runs until the end of February.
In the 1960s, Turkey was the fifth largest film producer in the world. But all that changed when people started watching TV and video. It was only in mid-90s that the situation started to improve.
What this exhibition, and this museum, show is that how other people see us and the stories they tell about us, are just as important, if not more so, as the stories we tell about ourselves.
