Shocking footage posted to Facebook by a central Florida driver showing an SUV driving on the wrong side of the highway and plowing headlong into another car has captured the final moments before a deadly head-on crash in Tampa, Florida.

The tragic highway collision happened on Interstate 275's northbound lanes just north of Busch Boulevard at 2 a.m. on Sunday and took the lives of five people.

The SUV, a white Ford Expedition, was travelling south and collided head-on with a Hyundai Sonata carrying college students.

The Expedition burst instantly into flames, and the Sonata was ripped to shreds. All five passengers in both vehicles died at the scene.

The four men inside the Hyundai Sonata were identified as University of South Florida students.
