Notorious Japanese model arrested for shoplifting

A Japanese model was arrested last Thursday on suspicion of shoplifting in a shopping center in Mizuho, a town just outside Tokyo. The 28-year-old woman, Chisato Suzuki, was frequently featured in Koakuma Ageha, a lifestyle magazine for women in their late teens and early 20s.

Suzuki and a companion were caught red-handed by a shop assistant stealing curtains and other goods worth hundreds of thousands of yen (or more than US$1,500).

In 2012, Suzuki debuted under the stage name name Takeda Anri and falsely told the public that she was 23. In a TV interview in early that year, she also said she was an 18th descendent of Takeda Shingen, a pre-eminent military commander in feudal Japan.

However, genuine descendents of Takeda Shingen later issued an official statement refuting her claim. What's more, her true age came to light shortly afterwards.

The crafty woman made a name for herself on a web of lies and is now gaining even more publicity as shoplifter. What do you think of the notorious model?
