The 2014 FIFA World Cup will be held in Brazil, and discount tickets for special seats are being offered to citizens of the country who are obese.

The ticket price is discounted by half, but Brazilian residents have to get their application in between June 12th and July 13th.

A doctor’s note is also required to be eligible for the discounted seats, which are extra wide and will also be available to people with other disabilities.

The World Cup Bill says that one percent of the seats in the stadium where the game is held must be offered up to people with disabilities.

World Cup organizers are quoted as saying: “FIFA always respects local legislation and regulations and as such included obese people within the category of people with special needs. All obese customers will have the right to use a specific seat and will be offered the opportunity to request a complimentary ticket for one accompanying person.”

Obesity is classified by someone having a body mass index higher than 30.

Over 15 percent of adults in Brazil are obese, and about half are reportedly overweight.

What do you think about the World Cup giving half price tickets and special seats to obese people?
