2 U.S. contractors killed in Kabul car bomb

NATO-led forces in Afghanistan are picking up the pieces after a deadly car bomb kills two U.S. contractors.

Officials said the two contractors were working for the international security force.

A local shopkeeper witnessed the attack. He thought three Americans were killed.

(SOUNDBITE) (DARI) EYEWITNESS AND SHOPKEEPER ZAHIDULLAH SAYING:

"The foreign convoy was passing the area when a suicide bomber in a Corolla blew up his vehicle targeting the convoy. He killed three Americans."

At least two Afghan civilians were injured in the attack.

Both were taken to a local hospital.

(SOUNDBITE) (Pashto) HOSPITAL DOCTOR SULTAN AHMAD SAYING:

"As a result of the blast we received two wounded, including a woman and a child. The child's condition was good so we discharged the child from the hospital, but the woman is still receiving treatment from the doctors."

Nobody has claimed responsibility for the attack.
