    This is the first back bending pose in the intermediate series however, it is a great pose for many levels of practitioners. It informs the basic pose that we do over and over: Ūrdhva Mukha Śvānāsana, better known as Upward Facing Dog Position. When doing it within the traditional Ashtanga series, Shalabhasana greatly warms the back, making it both strong and supple and ready for the following back bends to come!
