Pakistan’s Jamat-e-Islami along with other major religious parties observed the 5th February as Kashmir Solidarity Day staging big rallies across the country.
In the historic city of Lahore, the rallies led at least 20 religious parties. People marched through the main streets, chanting anti-India slogans.
Party members also blamed the Indian government for assaulting innocent Kashmiris and trying to put the Kashmir issue on the back burner with Pakistan.
A big number of women and children also took part in the rally. They criticized the government for moving ahead with trade agreements with India and not keeping the Kashmir issue on priority.
Vyonne Ridley, a British journalist and Respect Party activist also took part in the rally and urged India to stop killing innocent Kashmiris.
Religious parties have expressed their disregard on government’s soft approach on the Kashmir issue and demand justice for the Kashmiris.
Pakistan has expressed strong support and solidarity with the struggle of the people of Kashmir and has vowed to continue the support until Kashmir is given its right to self determination.
