Lisbon: Thousands join anti-austerity march over 2014 budget
  • 10 years ago
Protesters have taken to the streets of Lisbon to once again voice their anger over austerity measures.

The action was organised by the General Confederation of Portuguese Workers (CGTP), the largest trade union federation in the country.

The CGTP organised events on Saturday as part of a “National Day” of action.

Members are worried that this year’s state budget will plunge people into further financial problems.

The spending plan, as demanded by Portugal’s international creditors, will bring a third straight year of austerity.
