Gunfire and explosions rock Thai capital on eve of election

Dozens of gunshots and at least two explosions have further stoked tensions between pro and anti-government protesters in the Thai capital Bangkok.
At least three people were wounded in Saturday’s violence.
Elsewhere in the city, government supporters – known as “red shirts” – were said to be behind an attack on a car, being driven by a man they suspected of being an opposition member.
The windows of the vehicle were smashed as he attempted to get away.
Confrontations began after a group of supporters marched to a district office containing ballot papers – which had been surrounded by protesters.
The opposition is calling for the government to be replaced by an unelected council, which they say would weed out corruption and money politics.
Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra has refused to step down – arguing she is open to reform.
Ten people have been killed and nearly 600 injured since November.
