Hundreds of thousands of Hindu devotees took a silent dip in the sacred waters of the river Ganges in north India on the occasion of the auspicious ‘No Moon day’ on January 30.

The day is an opportunity for Hindus to absolve themselves of their sins and seek salvation from the cycle of life and death. Around 8 million were expected to bath in the water during the day.
