With final ratings in for the State of the Union address, Nielsen Media puts the grand total just shy of last year's for a 14-year low. The gross average audience of 13 networks airing President Obama's speech puts viewership at 33,299,172. That's down from the 33.5 million that tuned in for the 2013 speech for its lowest showing since 2000. (Bill Clinton's final address in office averaged 31,478,000.)
A petition asking the Obama administration to deport Canadian pop star Justin Bieber after his arrest last week on a drunken driving charge, on Wednesday passed the 100,000-signature mark needed to require a White House response. However, it is highly unlikely that the 19-year old singer would be deported, as federal law dictates that a visa could be revoked or denied for a conviction of a violent crime with a one year, or longer, prison sentence.
Jay Z pulled out all the stops Tuesday night during J. Cole 's birthday concert in NYC -- surprising the 29-year-old rapper with an incredible guest performance, before handing over a priceless piece of rap history. Jay Z pointed at the diamond chain around J. Cole's neck, Jay Z's original Roc-A-Fella chain from when he founded the label in the 90s. Cole thought he was wearing the chain on loan for the night, but Jay Z turned to him and said, "That, on your neck, is my original Roc chain -- and it's yours."
Miley Cyrus got a dose of star power while filming her
MTV Unplugged special in LA on Tuesday. Madonna joined the Wrecking Ball singer, and the pair hit the stage while decked out in spangly country Western garb (they also made sure to stick out their tongues together, Miley style). Miley told the crowd , That was pretty cool, you guys.
