Classic Game Room presents a CGR Undertow review of Magic 2014: Duels of the Planeswalkers for PC developed by Stainless Games and published by Wizards of the Coast.
Magic 2014: Duels of the Planeswalkers, much like the last several versions available for PC and various consoles, might seem at first glance to just be an annual rehash of the same concept; the nerdy equivalent of a Madden roster update. But Stainless Games and Wizards of the Coast added, in this version, a paradigm-shifting innovation: the ability to build your own deck out of booster packs earned during gameplay! (Which is, y'know, one of the central tenets of Magic: the Gathering as a whole.)
