A map of the world that shows what kind of liquor is preferred by certain countries has been released based on data from Euromonitor.

The data covers the six most common kinds of hard alcohol including vodka, tequila, whiskey, rum, brandy and gin.

Certain kinds of hard alcohol that are regionally popular, but not widely distributed were left out of the results.

Out of the 53 countries that were part of the study, 25 preferred whiskey, 21 like vodka the best, and only a handful enjoy gin, brandy, or rum the most.

The Netherlands was the only country where gin is more popular than other kinds of liquor, and Mexico is the only country that drinks more tequila.

Rum was most popular in a few South American countries including Colombia, Chile, Peru, and surprisingly, also in Italy.

Although whiskey was the most popular kind of booze overall, the United States, the United Kingdom, not including Scotland, and Russia reportedly drink more vodka.

Saudi Arabia, where alcohol is illegal, still participated in the study and it was shown that they prefer whiskey.
