Welcome to 60 Sec Tech - one minute of what you need to know in the tech world.

Rumors of Watch Dogs’ demise have been greatly exaggerated. Multiple Gamestop stores throughout the world were reporting that they’d stopped taking pre-orders for the WiiU version of the game, leading media to conclude that the title would be canceled. However, both Ubisoft and Gamestop have confirmed that Watch Dogs will indeed be released on the WiiU, and that the halt in pre-orders was “just a glitch.”

Gears of War will receive another installment, this time under the official rule of Microsoft. The Redmond giant purchased the franchise from Epic Games, who created the first four titles in the series. Microsoft will task Vancouver-based studio ‘Black Tusk’ with the line’s next iteration.

Last, an apology from Google: Gmail was down for about half an hour on Friday, inciting impatient Internet users to take to social media and voice their disapproval. Google quickly restored the service, but not before Yahoo took a potshot on Twitter. Both companies later released official apologies.

That does it for today - stay tuned for another episode of 60 Sec Tech.
