You don't have to be a genius to know that Rap Genius is a big deal.
Founded in 2009 by Mahbod Moghadam, Tom Lehman and Ilan Zechory, Rap Genius has since become a staple for fans of rap and music in general who want to learn more about the lyrics they're listening to, with everything from triple entendre explanations to absolutely silly and nonsensical over-analyzation of lyrics.
Rap Genius has gained some notable fans, including rap legend Nas, who was both one of the original investors in the site and became a verified artist, meaning he provides his own explanations for his lyrics, one of the site's coolest features.
The site that started off annotating rap lyrics with explanations has since expanded to annotating everything from poetry, fashion images, and even Bible passages, and the technology behind the site could be the driving force of how the Internet works in the future.
The cofounders are looking to expand "Genius" technology even further, to the point where it will one day annotate everything on the web, from news stories to anything else with text.
The Elite TV team had the opportunity to check out the Rap Genius office in Williamsburg, Brooklyn and speak to the three-headed monster that could one day change the way we read everything on the Internet.
