Proving all pets land in some trouble from time to time, a python in Darwin, Australia, belonging to Shona Lauder, climbed up a coconut tree in the family’s backyard and got stranded there for five long days.

On a recent Saturday the curious, nearly 10 foot long python named Monty managed to break free from the confines of his home and spend some time outdoors.

Lauder stated “He was in an enclosure with a heavy lid but he must have managed to squeeze out and go for a bit of a roam.”

When the family noticed Monty in the coconut tree, they called the local fire department for help. However the conditions outside were wet and slippery. Adding to the trouble, the slithery creature was so high, firefighters were unable to safely climb up and retrieve it.

The firm, Evo Access was then contacted for assistance. The team arrived at the home. Several men stayed on the ground for clean up, while one man climbed the tree.

Eventually Monty’s preferred branch was cut. The coconut leaves broke the fall. Monty was safe and returned to his owners.
