Two Russian circus acts take the top prizes at the 38th International Circus Festival of Monte Carlo.

Russian group Desire of Flight were the first winners of the prestigious Golden Clown prize and were presented with the award by Monaco's Prince Albert II and Princess Stephanie.

One group member compared the festival to the Olympics.

SOUNDBITE: Valeriy Sychev, desire of flight, saying (English):

"For us and not just for us, for all artists around all world, it's like Olympic games in the sport and it's the greatest festival in the world."

A second Russian group, Troupe Sokolov, also took home a Golden Clown prize.

The annual Circus Festival in Monte Carlo continues until January 26.
