If you ever find yourself wishing you saw even more Facebook posts about politics and careers, the solution is simple – friend more men.

According to research done by Wolfram Alpha, men talk about that stuff on the social media site more than women do.

Based on the same report, should it be cute animal pictures and tidbits on education you’re looking for, pad your friends list with more women.

In total, Wolfram combed volunteers’ status updates for signs of 24 topics based on certain word groupings.

Overall, men talk most about sports and women are inclined to discuss special occasions.

Quotes and life philosophies rank high among both genders.

In general, Facebookers spend the least time talking about books and video games, but when they do it’s mostly the males who start the conversation.

Other topics males seem to gravitate towards are music, movies, technology and transportation.

Females provide the most posts on relationships, friends and family, and health.

Stephen Wolfram, the man behind the algorithms, admits that many of the findings are stereotypical.

Still, he said, it’s always remarkable to be able to view a, “kind of a signature of people’s thinking as they go through life.”
