http://auphonix.com/bestfilter A pop shield inhibits pops from getting in your recording. Pops are made when a microphone picks up rapid bursts of air that are created as we speak plosives. Letters P, B, T or D are termed plosives because they “explode” whenever they are spoken. Pop shields perform as a filter of these bursts of air to ensure that the microphone doesn’t pick them up. A pop shield is clamped onto the mic stand, not on the mic itself otherwise it might pick up noises anytime the mic is moved.
