A couple in Seaside, Oregon is now in police custody following their radical and illegal approach to tipping. 40-year-old Ryan Bensen and 37-year-old Erica Manley spent a night out dining and drinking at the local Twisted Fish Steakhouse.

The pair had a gift card for the restaurant so there was no trouble when it came time to pay the bill. The issue was the couple was low on cash, but what they did have was a large stash of methamphetamine.

Believing their waitress would appreciate the thought, Bensen and Manley handed the server an envelope with a question mark written on the outside. The waitress soon opened it and saw a decent amount of crystal meth had been given to her as a tip.

The server contacted police. Bensen and Manley were still at the scene when cops arrived at the restaurant.

Officers searched Manley’s purse and found 17 ounces of meth. The pair was arrested and booked into the county jail.

Law enforcement also obtained a warrant to search a local hotel room where the couple had been staying. There they found a meth making lab set up.
