An Argentinean priest was given a pretty special lift on Wednesday as Pope Francis invited him to jump onto the back of his popemobile for a spin around St. Peter’s square.
Father Fabian Baez, from a large parish in central Buenos Aires, was allowed to walk through the barricades and approach the pope.
Pope Francis, know for his ‘human touch’, appeared unbothered by the break in protocol and gesticulated to Baez to join him in the popemobile for a ride around the square.
After his election last March, Francis immediately set about changing the Vatican’s image with his simple style.
