New York's outdoor workers find ways to stay warm

The arctic cold has hit New York City and commuters are finding ways to stay warm.

(SOUNDBITE) (English) DAVID BORENSTEIN, COMMUTER, SAYING:

"Coffee and a lot of heavy clothing."

But some New Yorkers have to brave the cold weather longer than others.

Jesse Laguna works at ESF transport company, and has to work long hours in the frigid weather.

(SOUNDBITE) (English) JESSE LAGUNA, ESF TRANSPORT, SAYING:

"We're working a lot, every day 12 hours. So it's really cold, being all day outside. It's freezing."

But wearing layers of clothes is helping Jesse survive.

(SOUNDBITE) (English) JESSE LAGUNA, ESF TRANSPORT, SAYING:

"You know, you gotta dress warm. Put your hat, sweater on, double pants, you know, good shoes. You've gotta deal with it."

Wael Ali - a food cart vendor - says for him, it's just another day in New York.
