Recent analysis points to the month of December as being the one in which the most babies are conceived.

Apparently skimpy swimwear and tanned bodies aren’t nearly as much of a turn-on as parkas, scarves and snow boots.

Recent analysis points to the month of December as being the one in which the most babies are conceived.

That knowledge was gleaned by analyzing birth rates throughout the year and then simply counting backwards.

Births spike in September, so that makes the holidays a big season for romance.

Why is anybody’s guess, but there are some pretty solid theories out there.

One is that it’s by design. A September or later birth is believed to offer children an academic advantage as they’ll be among the oldest and most developed in their class because of cut-off dates.

Also of benefit to people planning pregnancies is that men often have higher sperm quality in the colder months.

At the same time, women’s reproductive systems are more receptive to successfully conceiving.

That’s great for people setting out to make a baby, but can affect those not counting on doing so just the same.

As for the accidental pregnancies, one relationship expert posits that some people get a little too wrapped up in the festivities and forget about life’s mundane but important concerns like birth control.
