Michael Holcomb received his moment of inspiration to lose nearly 400 pounds when he was just 20 years old.
One day while sitting in front of the television recovering from an accident, he caught a glimpse of his reflection when the cable went out and the screen went blank.
He said, “…I was lying there without my shirt and I saw my stomach hanging over the side of the couch, and I broke down and I cried and I promised myself I would change.”
Holcomb knew that to make his resolution stick, he’d have to turn around the habits he’d developed over a lifetime.
When he was just 13, he tipped the scales at over 500 pounds and had packed on another 100 by the time he graduated.
He was well aware of how his weight had gotten so out of control, so to take it off he nixed his excessive eating habits, including his favored afternoon snack of 5 packs of Ramen.
For activity, he turned to his beloved video games, drumming along to ‘Rock Band’ for 8 hours a day.
Now that he’s reached his weight loss goal, he spreads the joy of fitness as a personal trainer.
