The excellent but nowadays not-so-much-heard-of Ella Mae Morse sings the first big hit she had; Benny Carter's composition "Cow Cow Boogie" with pianist Freddie Slack and his Orchestra. Bookmark the Dailymotion group CLASSIC JAZZ CLUB to see the entire collection of pre-1945 jazz films.

That would have been Lee Morse. She's not Ella Mae's mother though! ( Lee had one son - Jack, born in 1916).

Thanks for clarifying the time period. The Miss Morse who did the 1930 clip was born in 1897 and her style and appearance are so similar to Ella Morse, she could have been her mother.

The video you refer to is "not available". However, it cannot be Ella Mae Morse in that film - she was born in 1924 so she would have been six!

Nice one.... does anybody know who the trombone soloist is? He's blowing a Conn 24H or maybe a 4H.... I can see that from the clip, but who is he?!!!!
