Face-to-face peace talks between the South Sudanese government and rebel negotiators have been delayed. The talks in Addis Ababa, the Ethiopian capital, are to settle the bloody civil war that rages on in the world’s youngest country.

The two sides met separately with mediators on Friday at the city’s Sheraton Hotel. It was hoped they would progress to face-to-face talks on Saturday.

The fighting is between Dinka groups loyal to the president and Nuer groups loyal to the ousted vice president.

Humanitarian aid agencies face the challenge of trying to feed and provide water for the displaced with no end to the fighting in sight.
