The moustache – while considered by many men to be an essential part of their appearance, does have its critics. An investigation has been launched, following an incident at Sharjah airport involving a dispute between a passenger and a working official.

The problem was that the traveler was sporting a moustache and the passport control official didn’t like it and used the man’s documents as leverage to get him to shave it off.

The passenger, Sujeev Kumar, who is a software engineer, handed over his passport to the authority. Surprisingly the worker stamped it without trouble, however he wasn’t so swift when it came to giving the paperwork back.

Kumar reflected on the ordeal stating “After stamping my passport, he kept looking at me and the picture in the passport. He asked me how I keep my moustache brushed and laughed.”

Kumar took it in stride and ignored the not-so-subtle comments, but the control officer reportedly got even more brazen, eventually saying he would allow him to go through only after he shaved the moustache.

Kumar, obviously embarrassed, declined and asked for a supervisor, who gave him the passport back without trouble.
