    A US judge has ruled that the National Security Agency (NSA) program that collects the phone records of millions of American citizens is lawful.

    District Judge William Pauley called the surveillance a “counter-punch” to terrorism, which does not violate Americans’ privacy rights.

    The ruling differs from that of another judge this month – who questioned the constitutionality of the program.
