Marks and Spencer apology over alcohol and religion

Marks and Spencer has apologised after a worker in a London store politely referred a customer trying to buy alcohol to another till.

The retailer said it had failed to follow its internal policy of trying to find suitable roles for staff whose religious beliefs restrict food or drink they can handle.

The case concerning the M&S staff member, a Muslim, has prompted a media furore.
