Pussy Riot member freed in Russia

Maria Alyokhina -- a member of the punk band Pussy Riot -- walks free from prison.

The Russian musician tells waiting journalists that she feels well.

The release of fellow band member Nadezhda Tolokonnikova is also expected later on Monday.

The pair were convicted of hooliganism motivated by religious hatred for performing an obscenity-laced song in Moscow's main cathedral last February.

The sentence of the third woman seen here was suspended.

The song was heavily critical of the Church's support for President Vladimir Putin, calling on the Virgin Mary to "throw Putin out".

The sentences of the two women were due to end in March but their early release comes under an amnesty agreed by the Russian parliament.

The move's widely seen as attempt to avoid controversy overshadowing the Winter Olympics in February.
