Bollywood filmmakers have time and again attempted to borrow their whole and sole inspiration from the existing films, be it from the yesteryear Hindi films, Hollywood or some southern films. However, restricting to the Southern remakes this time, let's check out the official Hindi remakes of South films that released in the year 2013.

Directed by Priyadarshan, 'Rangrezz' is a Hindi film starring Jackky Bhagnani, Priya Anand, Rajpal Yadav and Amitosh Nagpal in lead roles. The story is adapted from the Tamil film , which has already been also remade in Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, and Bengali. Produced by Vashu Bhagnani, the film however didn't go down well at the box office.

    Shortcut Romeo

Directed and produced by Susi Ganeshan, Shortcut Romeo is an action crime thriller film starring Neil Nitin Mukesh, Ameesha Patel and Puja Gupta in lead roles. This flick is a Hindi remake of director's own Tamil film Tiruutu Payale that released way back in the year 2006. However, this Hindi edition got minuscule earnings with barely any earnings at the box office.

Coming next is Policegiri which is an official remake of Tamil film titled Saamy. Starring Sanjay Dutt, Prachi Desai and Prakash Raj in lead roles, the film narrates a comical trace of a cop. Produced by T. P. Aggarwal and Rahul Aggarwal, this film also marked to be the Bollywood debut of popular Tamil director K.S. Ravikumar. However, coming to the box office earnings, Policegiri received an extremely poor response from the critics.

    Ramaiya Vastavaiya

Ramaiya Vastavaiya is a romantic comedy film directed by Prabhu Dheva. Having taken its inspiration from Prabhu Deva's directorial debut Telugu blockbuster Nuvvostanante Nenoddantana, the film introduced producer Kumar Taurani's son Girish Kumar, who paired opposite actress Shruti Haasan. Unfortunately Ramaiya Vastavaiya too didn't go down well at the box office.

Lastly, Boss is an action film which is believed to be the remake of a Malayalam blockbuster, Pokkirri Raja. Directed by Anthony D'Souza, Boss starred an ensemble cast including actors - Akshay Kumar, Mithun Chakraborty, Shiv Pandit and Aditi Rao Hydari. The film received a mixed response from the critics but collections downed to match the whopping reviews.
