U.N. seeks $6.5 billion for Syria, its largest appeal ever for single crisis

There's 16 million of them, says the U.N., many homeless.

Displaced inside Syria - or as refugees in neighboring countries, like this Lebanese border town where they receive aid.

"They distributed diesel, clothing and heaters. The diesel should be enough for 15 days."

It's the winter that really worries aid workers.

On Monday, the United Nations made its largest ever global appeal for a single crisis.

It's asking for nearly seven billion dollars to deal with the growing humanitarian problem.
