The Mooche Soprano Summit 1977

Soprano Summit 1977. The brainchild of Bob Wilber and Kenny Davern.
Here in France with Bucky Pizzarelli guitar, Bobby Rosengarden drums and Georges Duvivier on bass.
In this Duke Ellington composition Kenny and Bob doing a wonderful arrangement.
Both end up on soprano saxes to create quite an impact. In the early part of his life Bob Wilber studied for quite a while in France with Sidney Bechet. Certainly influenced but never sounded like Bechet. A few years after these recordings Kenny Davern stopped playing the soprano sax all together. He wanted to concentrate solely on his clarinet work.
