Drivers aren’t usually excited when speed cameras go up. However motorists in Parma, Ohio are thrilled because a brand new installation of cameras is soon coming right back down.

The City of Cleveland recently made a huge mistake and set up the recording devices west of Broadview and Brookpark Road in Parma. The problem is not only that they were placed in the wrong city but also the fact that speed cameras are illegal in that area.

In compliance with Parma’s ordinances, photo enforcement can only be used in school zones. According to a Parma city hall spokesperson “it appears this was a mistake and we have been informed that it will be removed by the City of Cleveland.”

Drivers are fortunate that the cameras are coming down and they’re also very lucky that no tickets will be issued for the short time the devices are up. According to the Parma Safety Director, the cameras were not entirely functional after the installation so no motorists were cited.

What’s your opinion on traffic cameras, would you vote in favor of them or against them?
