Usually there’s no greater relief after being outside in the freezing cold than retreating to the warm confines of a store or a home. However that’s not how everyone feels.
A new store recently opened in Bucharest, Romania geared towards the cold loving crowd and it’s comprised entirely of ice. Of course the air inside is absolutely frigid.
Approximately 80 tons of ice was specifically sculpted to form shelves for the edible goods inside the shop, giving the surroundings a transparent, modern design theme. Workers and customers inside the store can be seen dressed from head to toe for the cold indoor temperature.
According to a clerk “The temperature does not exceed minus 5 degrees Celsius during the day, and is kept at as low as minus 25 degrees at night, so the ice will not melt in the supermarket.”
Its main highlights are food and wine, but clothing will also be sold at the establishment. The 150 square meter store holds roughly 500 items for sale.
It’s believed to be the first ice shop of this nature in the world. The store will be open until Christmas eve.
