Ralph Ferrett’s friends thought the 34-year-old bachelor needed some help in the romance department, so they sent out the word via Twitter.

The scheme hatched as many that walk the line between harebrained and genius do – at a bar and after several drinks.

That night, according to his friend Donna, he asked her to tap into her huge number of Twitter followers to get him a date.

Ralph said he was ‘mildly lubricated’ when they had the conversation and he’d forgotten about the plea by the next morning. Lucky for him, his friends hadn’t.

They set up a tag – that’s hashtag-Get-Ralph-a-Date, if you’re single, live in the Plymouth, UK area, and interested – and almost instantly suitors began to line up.

Described by his friends as being intelligent, funny, successful, and in triathlon shape, what’s there to resist?

Ralph’s also gotten a lot of attention from the media - news of his dating quest was even picked up by TIME.com.

Of the news giant’s nod, he tweeted, “Time magazine story is ace, but I always just pictured my Time debut as winning ‘Person of the Year’ though.”
