Beth Warren, a 28-year-old widow from Birmingham, UK, has engaged in a legal battle to retain access to her late husband’s sperm.

In 2012, at 32 years of age, he passed away from a brain tumor.

Prior to his death he took the steps necessary to carry out his wish that his wife be able to use his sperm in the future.

While it’s currently frozen and in a facility, there are plans to have it destroyed in 2015.

Given that her brother was killed in a car accident only weeks before her husband’s death, she says she's currently not in a state of mind to consider such weighty matters.

She said, "I cannot make that choice now and need more time to build my life back. I may never go ahead with treatment but I want to have the freedom to decide once I am no longer grieving.”

She’s already received two extensions and her most recent appeals to the agency overseeing the matter have been rejected.

Ms. Warren is scheduled to go before a judge in 2014 to again plead her case.
