Eh la Bas Zardis Chester 1989
Bassist Chester Chardis already played in 1910's in the Buddy Petit Jazz Band. Together with Wellman Braud, Pops Foster and other upright bassplayers they developed a powerful style mainly to replace the tuba and sousaphone sounds in the early jazzbands. Chester lived all his live in New Orleans. He preferred the local habits over fame somewhere else. Chester was born in 1900 and died in 1989 the same year these clips were filmed.
