Lebanon’s army is to take charge of security in the country’s second largest city of Tripoli.

The mission is to last for six months following deadly sectarian clashes linked to the war in Syria.

Violence has recently flared in the city between supporters and opponents of Syrian President Bashar Assad.

Lebanon is still struggling after its own civil war and many fear violence overspilling from neighbouring Syria could reignite it.
