A beauty salon is not the most likely place to find women who have survived acid attacks but a Pakistani chain has helped almost five hundred victims rebuild their lives after the horrors they have experienced.

Masarrat Misbah, owner of thirty centres and sponsor of the Smile Again Foundation, told Efe how ten years ago a woman with her face covered by a burkha entered a salon asking for help.

After being shocked by her injuries and helping the victim, Misbah placed an advertisement encouraging women in similar circumstances to visit her shop. A total of 42 women immediately turned up.
