Horses have many more talents than what you might expect.

Metro Meteor may have a successful career as a painter now, but that wasn’t the thoroughbred’s first career path.

His first job was racing, and he did quite well at that, too, bringing in about 300 thousand dollars in winnings throughout his sports career.

Like many athletes, Metro’s knees ended up being his downfall.

After he was no longer able to run, his original owner put him up for adoption and he ended up in the stable of Ron and Wendy Krajewski.

Metro couldn’t be ridden and it was estimated that he’d only live a couple more years.

Ron, an artist himself, noticed that the horse liked to bob its head – a lot.

One day he got the idea to put a paintbrush in the horse’s mouth and an instant art start was born.

Metro’s paintings are big sellers, having brought in enough money for life-saving veterinary treatments, and lush donations to benefit other horses.

In addition to canvases, Dream Green USA, Metro’s current commercial representation, offers his works on pillows and tote bags.
